“PBIS in the Classroom: Transitioning From Discipline to Instruction”

The ultimate purpose of PBIS is to increase behavioral and academic success for all students. Through teaching and coaching of PBIS in the Classroom Modules, teachers can establish effective processes and procedures in order to create safe classroom cultures in order for effective instruction to consistently occur. With the successful implementation of Tier I supports, teachers will be able to provide effective data-driven, differentiated instruction. During this presentation, participants will gain knowledge on how to weave PBIS in the Classroom into their school’s professional development. With this method, instructional leaders are able to present the modules as a tool to help strengthen behavior and instructional practices. Modules 1 and 2 are used to create consistent Tier I classroom procedures and processes. Modules 3 and 4 are used to increase differentiation and student data usage. The PBIS in the Classroom modules can be used to help parents establish routines and procedures for the home environment
